Be careful if you're getting Paint Tool Sai, it isn't a free program but I don't know a single person who actually bought it. If I find where I got my version of Paint Tool Sai i'll give you a message and the new ms paint brushes don't have that solid pixel edge like the pencil tool does. So that's why when you color things in it leaves annoying little white dots behind unlike when you use the pencil tool. Also a cool trick in ms paint is to select a brush or pencil and press ctrl and + at the same time, it'll make whatever tool you're using bigger. To shrink it you obviously do ctrl and -.

Oh! Yeah you're right. Those are sizes but the ctrl and + can make even larger brushes if you ever needed them. You probably don't tho. >.< Edit;Typically when i'm drawing wolves they normally look like which is something i'm not exactly proud of. It's inaccurate and not proportionate compared to an actual wolf; So make sure you do a little studying but then again it's great if you develop a style of your own so do I little of both. Study then draw. Study then draw.

Don't use fill, just color them in with the brushes. It will take time yes, and if you go over you got to rub it out, yes. But art shouldn't be rushed or think it should not take any time at all. Plus it'll look much better.

I know this isn't what you want to hear but I'd suggest sketching on paper first. It makes your hands more comfortable with all of the shapes and stuff for drawing. And study. Study. Study. The correct anatomy on a drawing can make it go far and beyond the line in which you believe to be good. Then if you have gotten the basics down and wish to continue with your drawing, I'd suggest a digital art tablet.

So I know this isn't the result you had hoped for but you should be thankful that all these poeple are going out of their way to help you improve your skills. I didn't have any support of the sorts and looking back, I woulda killed for this feedback and advice.

Like husky said, you should be helpful, not defensive over our advice. I had time to kill and i looked up some stuffs: Pixlr, is a free image editor, and can be very well used as a drawing tool. No downloads, no nothing required, just open in-browser and click "Create New Image" Paint Tool SAI, which is what everyone has been recommending, so I will leave it here.

You most likely clicked the wrong download button. I'll kill you for laughing at me Cloud, but yes Iso, I've done that too once. So many downloads to choose from and right when you click the wrong one, it immediately affects your PC. So no, it's not the software.

So many downloads to choose from and right when you click the wrong one, it immediately affects your PC. So no, it's not the software. ...I did that once LOL CloudFish remembers bahhaha But yeah. Honestly, if you want to get better, dropping the old programs and clicking through deviantart tutorials is the way to go. That's how I improved. Sure, learning takes some time, but in the end it really is worth it. I make money off of my art now and it's the end result of my decision to get better. If you plan on keeping your mouse for a bit I recommend doing art in GIMP. It still has the same interface as Microsoft Paint but it is more advanced and you have soo many more options(and the chance to play with layers!) If you plan on getting a tablet then I recommend Paint Tool Sai since the brushes are mainly aimed at tablet users(which gives you hella smooth lines by the way). I'm sure someone on deviantart can provide you with a link to it. For anatomy, I'm assuming you're going towards a cartoony look? Try looking around on deviantart and find some really great canine artists. Watch their speedpaints and observe and try repeating what they did in your program. Trust me, it helps a lot! I'm not saying copy their style directly, it just gives you a base to start off of and lets you get by on the horns to develop your own style. If this motivates you, here, take a look at my improvement:
