"Flowers"
Child, adorned in dress
Epitome of spring and youth
Her eyes and hair shone under familiar desert sun
Pudgy hand grasped and outstretched to him
Her flower.
Time by time
The man accepted.
But with time by time worn
And he took for granted
The flower.
To ignore is to neglect
As his daughter's eyes swelled
To little his beknownst
But for all his cause.
Distance and excuse would come
Experience had taught her eminence.
I will be there, I promise.
Sorry, I can't make it
A process; another promise to deem inadequate.
A lady, adorned in dress
Epitome of spring and youth
She grasps the diploma
To the tune of classmates' roar.
Sets of cheering eyes in the stands
One of blood, one of law
To which she grinned
And knew after today he would never again receive
Her flower.
They rushed and embraced her
With open arms and warm smiles, bright as sun
congratulations, congratulations!
You did it,
My flower!
And her eyes sparked, with tears and shock
To see his silk-laced suit beside the stands and hidden from view
Wouldn't miss it for the world
As he hands her his bouquet
Of flowers.
A love abloom,
The spring-kissed canopies reflect
Sunshine radiates outward, not in,
From the tenuous grasp of his sweet grin
Pull me aboard, my captain,
In a silk-laced net.
A choice of friendship,
Upon a chance meet
Love spread consentless as viral,
Unobstructed, coursing through us in convolving spirals
Our lips touch,
And the angels weep.

"Six people, cold, hungry, and wet sat in the woods
Bitter winds at their backs, circled around a dying fire.
Each individual possessed a stick of wood.
They eyed one another nervously, each debating if they should.
The first man was of spite, eying him with the beard
Who had found his sister that night
Withholding his stick of wood in binge
Would be his chance to fulfill revenge
The second man, his sights fell upon a woman, so scraggled
His eyes burned with hate for the girl's reprise.
To not give his stick
Would to be sought for her demise.
The third, a man of mangled riches.
He kept his stick beside him for the sloth of commonwealth.
For a poor man sat opposite of the dying flame,
Why should he contribute possessions he had earned himself?
The fourth, a man in rags, who kept his name asunder.
For the rage in his eyes was of thunder
Grasping tightly to his stick, his glare befell the wealth
It was to his dismay that a man could care only for himself
The fifth was a woman, whose eyes befell with envy and dead lust
Her glare upon the brother
Who had failed to protect her trust
And so withholding her stick was her alternate of smother
The sixth, a man leaned back to his palms
Eyes slowly flicking nonchalantly from each face without name
This man would not give if nothing in return
That was how he played the game.
Each person's spite kept their sticks to themselves.
But refusal to feed the fire would cause it to thin.
They didn't die that night from the cold without
They died from the cold within."
"She Who?"
She who loves like the hug of a friend
And asks me to let her be there for me.
Who is a glass of ice water and a forest fire
Who is my support
Who's heart is made of stone
And says love sees no age
Who tells me her heart belongs to him
Who tells me she loves this life
Who's eyes burn with passion.
And can't see her exploitation.
Who worries all night and day
And paces the drunken city streets
Who's lackluster clothing shall no longer hide
A fear that's growing in stride
Who is a malfunction in her parents' eyes.
And considers relieving her fate
Who's heart remains weary of the soul she sovereigns
And remains flawless on the surface
Who talks to me without speaking.
Is tales of sleepless nights, and smiles, and tears
Who mourns the absence of someone she does not know
Is released, but her shackles remain
Asking me to be there for her.
Will you be there for me?
She who loves like the hug of a friend
And asks me to let her be there for me.
Who is a glass of ice water and a forest fire
