I'm not sure if this is the right thread.. but I had no idea where else it could go. I need help, but it's not really 100% related to LM.. o^o I need someone with meshing/converting experience to help me out. It'd be appreciated.
So I love making maps on FH and am learning to make them on IT servers. I really want to use some of the default FH meshes in the IT maps- but there's a problem. Whenever I try; I crash. And I wasn't sure why. But I have other non default meshes I use in my FH maps from others on teh FeralHeart forums. So I've been asking them for permission to use them in my IT server maps. Just recently one got back to me and told me to make sure I download them in Ogre 1.6 because FeralHeart is 1.7 and will crash my game.
And that makes perfect sense. ._. How- do I go about coverting them to 1.6? I'm really bad at Blender (when I did try it) so I'm not sure what to do. I'm stumped. Is anyone else familiar with this that could help? Maybe convert them for me? Because legit I'm clueless.
I was also wondering if anyone knew how to set a material to a mesh.. Because I have my own rock texture but I can't figure out how to link the mesh with the material. *flops on the ground*
I'm such a newb. ;^; So sorry again if this is the wrong forum.

I was 'bout to say you can't use the default FH meshes in IT. But if you have permission then okay. I'm pretty sure the 'Ogre 1.6' thing refers to the commandline tools.. And about assigning a mat to the mesh. What you need to do, is press F5. Then under Link to Object is the material section. MA is the material name. ME should be the object name. Then you can kind of mess around with the slider settings and see what you get. Just look at the preview sphere. Once you attach the material to the object it will export with it.

Oh I can't use the default FH meshes? I asked Rak about it and she said it would be ok since Kovu made FH. DId someone else make the meshes that I should be asking?
And the other thing is I have no programs at all for meshes- which is also why I'm lost. What am I supposed to use for assign materials and changing them to 1.6? o-o *shot shot* I'msosorryforbeinganewb

I didn't think they were allowed to be used on IT... Hrm. My mistake I guess. But um. Here, download this; notepad-plus-plus.org/download/v6.1.6.htmlAnd open the mesh with it. Then press Ctrl+F and type in Mat and find it/them. These are the materials that your object is using. material {TYPEINTHEMATHERE} { technique { pass { texture_unit { texture {YOURTEXTUREHERE} } } } } Using this sort of "default" material code, replace the necessary things. That is how you assign a material to an object that is without one. As for the whole mesh thing. Which meshes are you attempting to use? Most of the meshes in FH are IT meshes already.

Oh woah Ruby I love you. I'mma try this now for materials.
And the only real ones I want are the oak tree, den, cave and plateau meshes. Especially the den and cave one.

Indeed I did. Though my FH is modded so the real tree doesn't look like that. But I'll be converting the rest and putting them up. c:
